Weardale itself is a beautiful dale (valley) that stretches approximately 20 miles from the town of Bishop Auckland to the village of Wearhead. Situated just off the A689 Wolsingham/Alston road. Through Stanhope & Eastgate to Westgate Village. Turn left at the Hare & Hounds Pub, go over the bridge & keep left and proceed approximately one mile to Brotherlee.
Go through Alston on the A689 passing through Cowshill, St Johns Chapel to Daddry Shield, turn right & proceed about two miles to Brotherlee.
